The Roarin' Twenties

 

 

 

The Twenties proved to be a decade of prosperity and change. The economic boom kick starting the decade was followed by the down fall of our country and eventually, Favor of the Nazi Party.

However, women broke free from the mold. Their skirts were shorter, their neck line lower and their make up darker. These Women are referred to as "flappers". Flappers broke the mold of everything a woman was supposed to be. A flapper would smoke in public and dance with colored men and go to speakeasies.

 

PROHIBITION - It started on the 16th of January 1919. Propagana spread through out the U.S to keep America "Clean".Along with Prohibition came speak easies. Speakeasies where clubs that sold alcohol illegally.Many women portrayed their support by holding signs or becoming part of an activist group that supported the ban of alcohol.Police would publically dump the alcohol from speakeasies down the sewer to show the public the consequences of breaking the law.Along with the outlaw of Alcohol, Gangsters became part of the underground.
